My Weekly Peom
WALT read a poem and analyse the language features of a poem.
Our Past is our Past
You must let it go so fast
For those past mistakes you have made
Will not change the past path you laid
But the path you will lay today
has not been set in any way
So embrace the change
You still have your own say
On my knees,
asking God for the strength to guide me
Then he showed,
That strength already resides inside me
All I need is my family and friends
And make sure I keep my head held highly.
1. Summarise the poem you have read in your own words.
- The poem I read this week is about Hope and asking god for strength and the path I chosen and the past and Family and friends.
2. Identify at least 2 different language features in the poem and give examples. You can identify more than 2 language features.
- One of the language features in this poem is a personification. Here is an example of this language feature I keep my head held highly.
- Another language feature in this poem is a simile. Here is an example of this language feature Asking God for strength to guide me.
3. Evaluate (which means reflect and give your opinion) the author’s purpose for writing this poem - in your answers include the words: inform, entertain, persuade.
- By analysing the poem I have read this week I think the author wrote this poem because it could change the path you were on and look for what you believe and persuade the right path.
- The author was informing the audience about hope and to make people believe and to change peoples paths and to think about what are you doing now and before and after.
- The author was entertaining the audience by helping them believe and to think of what they done once in awhile and to see what they will be when they grow up.
