My poem about My Family

WALT read a poem and analyse the language features of a poem.

My family will forever be in my heart,
My sister’s mean more to me,
More than life,
All I ever wanted was a complete family,
To have a mother whom I never met,
My family will always remain who they are in my heart and soul,
My family is more important than my friends and my lover,
Family will always come first,
Family is family,
No matter what they did they’ll always remain family.

1. Summarise the poem you have read in your own words.
  • The poem I read this week is about....my family because my family is important to me and they look up to me whatever I do or listen to.

2. Identify at least 2 different language features in the poem and give examples. You can identify more than 2 language features.

  • One of the language features in this poem is adjectives . Here is an example of this language feature...My family will forever be in my heart.
  • Another language feature in this poem is a Metaphors. Here is an example of this language feature...My family is more important.

3. Evaluate (which means reflect and give your opinion) the author’s purpose for writing this poem - in your answers include the words: inform, entertain, persuade.

  • By analysing the poem I have read this week I think the author wrote this poem because it tells people how your family loves you and wants you to know that they want to be with you wherever you go or do.
  • The author was informing the audience about...your family is like more than a friend because of they remain  and they always come first and if you think that your friends are important well they aren’t because families keep on helping others.
  • The author was entertaining the audience by...Family is always in your heart no matter what.
           (emotions/language features)
  • The author is trying to persuade the audience to think/believe/reflect... but your family look up to you and I know that they can still be with you and they always believe in you but family is family.
